University of Tsukuba offers a range of different scholarship programmes for international students to help cover tuition fees or living costs for fall 2016 intake. Students from developing countries are eligible to apply for this scholarship. The PEPP started out in 1995 as the Master’s Program in Policy Management and it was part of the Graduate School of International Political Economy of the University of Tsukuba. -Applicants who meet any or all of following conditions are not eligible. If identified after acceptance of the scholarship grantees, the applicants will be required to withdraw from the scholarship:
[1] If an applicant is a service member or a civilian employee registered on the active military list at the time of his/her arrival in Japan;
[2] Those who cannot arrive in Japan during the period designated by accepting university;
[3] If an applicant is, in principle, currently enrolled in a Japanese university or other type of school with the resident status of “College Student,” or will be enrolled in a Japanese university, etc. as another source or self-financed international student between the time of application for this scholarship in his/her country and the time the scholarship period is due to begin; or
[4] Those who will lose their status as public administrators or government officials following the time of application or before completion of the program.
Scholarship Open for International Students: Students from P. R. China, Rep. of Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Brunei Darussalam, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Australia, Hungary, Czech, Slovakia, Poland, Bulgaria, Romania and Turkey can apply for this Young Leaders’ Program.
Scholarship Description: The Young Leaders’ Program ?YLP? aims to cultivate national leaders of the future in Asia and around the world. In addition, while enhancing the participants’ understanding about Japan, it should help form a network among national leaders, contributing to the establishment of friendly relations and improved policy planning activities between worldwide, including Japan.
Number of award(s): Approximately 20 students will be selected.
Duration of award(s): Scholarships are awarded for one year from October 2016 to September 2017.
What does it cover?-Allowance: Each grantee will be provided monthly with 242,000 yen during the term of the scholarship. However, the amount of allowance will be subject to change depending upon the annual budget of the Japanese government for each fiscal year. The scholarship will not be paid to a grantee who takes a leave of absence or is long absent from the assigned university.
-Traveling Costs:
1) Transportation to Japan: Each grantee will be supplied in general, accounting to his/her itinerary and route as designated by MEXT, with an economy-class airplane ticket from the international airport nearest to his/her home address* to Narita or Haneda International Airport. Expenses such as domestic transportation from his/her home address to the international airport, airport tax, airport usage fees, special taxes on travel, or inland transportation within Japan will NOT be supplied.
2) Transportation from Japan: The grantee who returns to his/her home country within the fixed period after the expiration of his/her scholarship will be supplied, in general, upon application, with an economy-class airplane ticket for the travel from Narita or Haneda International Airport to the international airport nearest to his/her home address.
-School Fees: Fees for matriculation and tuition will be paid by the Japanese government.
-Accommodations:
1) In principle, grantees may reside at residence halls provided by GRIPS.
2) Private Boarding Houses or Apartment Houses: Those who cannot accommodate in the facilities described above will be arranged at private boarding houses or apartments recommended by the GRIPS Student Office.
Selection Procedure: Based on the recommendation of authorities, GRIPS will select initial candidates from among applicants by means of an interview, and a review of the submitted documents. If it is not possible to hold an interview in the applicant’s home country, an interview may be conducted by telephone or the Internet. Those who have been selected initially by the participating universities will be put forward to the YLP committee established by MEXT for the final selection.

-Essay explaining applicant’s aspirations and future plans following program  completion
-Certificate of Citizenship
-Family Register
-Copy of the Passport
-English Proficiency Certificate
-Answer to the Essay Questions

The Nigerian Conservation Foundation with support from Chevron Nigeria Limited is offering research grants for Nigerian Citizens. These grants are awarded to undertake research work in fields related to nature conservation and sustainable livelihood. The grant shall be for three years leading to a PhD degree. Candidates will be selected based on (among others) the quality of their research proposal. The deadline for application is 27th November, 2015.

Eligibility:
-Candidates must be Nigerian citizens.
-Candidates must have M.Sc. Degree or equivalent qualification in Biological Sciences, Social Sciences or Law (Environmental Law/Protection) but related to environmental resources management.
-Candidates must have secured admission into a Nigerian university towards a PhD degree in any of the fields stated in No. 2 above.
-Candidates must develop acceptable research proposals that meet NCF’s vision and mission.
-Proposals must have correlation with local and national environmental conservation challenges and issues.
-A progress report  (on letter head paper) from the applicant’s Project Supervisor(s) stating how far he or she has gone in his or her research work and his/her role in the initial review,  as well as the relevance to the  objectives of the grant is a very essential condition for considering any application.  Please note that a reference letter is an equivalent of a Progress Report from the Supervisors(s).
-200-word justification, with relevance to natural and environmental resource management and biodiversity conservation.
-A 3,000-word project proposal to be submitted should reflect the Title, Introduction/Statement of Problem, Objectives, Methodology and Expected Output etc.
-Curriculum vitae (not more than 2 pages detailing research and work experience).
-Scanned copy of admission letter.
